Spring knitting, apple cake & the prettiest view

I started knitting the Dawn Singlet top and decided to make mine blue. This is another pattern by Sandnes Garn. It’s in the same booklet as the April top, which I finally finished some days ago. I love how my April top turned out, even if I’m still recuperating from all the work it took to make it. It was challenging to finish the sleeves and collar in one weekend, mostly because you are just repeating the same thing over and over, but I knew I had to push myself to finish it, or else the project would end up in a bag again with my other UFOs and not be picked up again for another six months or more. To keep myself entertained I watched a bunch of episodes of the Envidiosa/Envious series on Netflix. I had watched season one already, so it was fun to marathon knit and watch the show at the same time. Now that I think of it, I need to watch the final three episodes. It’s in Spanish and …

new project on my needles: the april blouse from sandnes garn

Do you love this pattern as much as I do? I stumbled upon the APRIL BLOUSE from Sandnes Garn the other day while scrolling Instagram and I immediately knew I wanted one. I loved the light brown color, the loose fit, and all that texture! I think this blouse will be a nice addition to my closet for when the weather gets hot. And seeing that it most likely won’t be hot in Marin until at least August or September, (I’m still wearing sweaters!) I should have plenty of time to knit mine before the summer ends. Of course, this project will require my full attention, as this doesn’t look like an easy knit – just look at those details! But, I’m up for it. Sandnes Garn is a Norwegian brand that I haven’t been able to find locally. So, I was thrilled to find out that I could purchase this yarn and the patterns online in the U.S. through motherknitter.com. This pattern is part of the SOMMER DAME Collection / 2305. You can get …

knitting rowan’s “kate” cardigan

I may have mentioned that I started working on a new project, a ROWAN pattern called “Kate”. I started it a few days ago. It’s a very basic sweater. But that’s okay; I like basic.  Ever since I finished the sleeveless purple top, I’ve only worn it once. It’s still chilly around here, so I need something to throw over it that isn’t too bulky and that won’t clash with the rib pattern, so I hope this works. 🤞🏻 I should be making the sweater in green like the photo from the “Rowan Loves.. kidsilk haze & felted tweed” magazine, which has 9 designs by Sarah Hatton. I love emerald green! (Oh well, maybe next time.) I’m loving the yarn I picked out: Folio by Berroco yarns. I hope it doesn’t behave too differently from the Kidsilk Haze specified in the pattern. Normally, I would have gone with the recommended yarn. I love Rowan yarns. But Berroco had the color I needed, and I didn’t want to wait for an order to be mailed to me. Although, Kidsilk Haze in …
